|| Couplet [Doha] ||

With the dust of my Guru’s lotus feet, I cleanse the mirror of my mind.
I then narrate the pure glory of Lord Raghuvar, which bestows the four fruits of life.

Shree guru charan saroj raj, nij manu mukur sudhaaree |
Baranun raghuvar bimal jasu, jo daayaku phal chaari ||

Knowing myself to be lacking in intelligence, I remember the son of the Wind God (Hanuman).
Grant me strength, wisdom, and knowledge, and remove my sorrows and impurities.

Buddhiheen tanu jaanike, sumiraun pavanakumaar |
Bal buddhi vidya dehu mohin, harahu kalesh vikaar ||

|| Chaupaee || verse||

Victory to Hanuman, the ocean of wisdom and virtue.
Victory to the Lord of the monkeys, who illuminates the three worlds.

Jay hanumaan gyaan gan saagar |
Jay kapees tihun lok ujaagar ||

Messenger of Lord Rama, the abode of incomparable strength,
Son of Anjani and known as the son of the Wind God.

Raamadoot atulit bal dhaama |
Anjani putr pavanasut naama ||

Great hero, mighty and strong as thunderbolt,
Remover of evil thoughts and companion of good sense.

Mahaaveer vikram bajarangee |
kumati nivaar sumati ke sangee ||

Golden-hued and splendidly adorned,
With earrings in your ears and curly hair upon your head.

Kanchan varan viraaj suvesa |
kaanan kundal kunchit kesa ||

In one hand you hold the thunderbolt and in the other, the flag,
A sacred thread of munja grass adorns your shoulder.

Haath bajr au dhvaja biraajai |
Kaandhe moonj janeoo saajai ||

Incarnation of Lord Shiva and son of Kesari,
Your brilliance and glory are revered by the whole world.

Shakar suvan kesaree nandan |
Tej prataap maha jag vandan ||

Possessing great knowledge, virtue, and exceptional intelligence,
You are always eager to carry out Lord Rama’s work.

Vidyaavaan gunee ati chaatur |
Raam kaaj karibe ko aatur ||

You delight in listening to the stories of the Lord,
Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita dwell in your heart.

Prabhu charitr sunibe ko rasiya |
Raam lakhan seeta man basiya ||

Assuming a subtle form, you appeared before Sita,
Assuming a fierce form, you set Lanka ablaze

Sookshm roop dhari siyahin dikhava |
Vikat roop dhari lank jaraava ||

Assuming a formidable form, you destroyed the demons,
You accomplished the tasks of Lord Rama.

Bheem roop dhari asur sanhaare |
Raamachandra ke kaaj sanvaare ||

You brought the Sanjeevani herb to revive Lakshman,
And Lord Rama embraced you with joy.

Laay sanjeevan lakhan jiyaaye |
Shree raghubeer harashi ur laaye ||

Rama, the Lord of the Raghu dynasty, greatly praised you,
He declared you as dear to him as his brother Bharata.

Raghupati keenhee bahut badaee |
Tum mam priy bharatahi sam bhaee ||

A thousand mouths sing your glory,
Saying this, Lord Rama embraced you.

Sahas badan tumharo yash gaavain |
As kahi shreepati kanth lagaavain||

Sanaka and other sages, Brahma and the great sages,
Narada, Saraswati, along with Sheshnag.

Sanakaadik brahmaadi muneesha |
Naarad saarad sahit aheesa ||

Yama (the god of death), Kubera (the god of wealth), and the guardians of the directions,
Even the wisest poets and scholars cannot fully describe your greatness.

Jam kuber dikapaal jahaan te |
Kavi kovid kahi sake kahaan te ||

You rendered great help to Sugriva,
By introducing him to Rama, you enabled him to regain his kingdom.

Tum upakaar sugreevahin keenha |
Raam milaay raaj-pad deenha ||

Vibhishan followed your advice,
And the whole world knows he became the king of Lanka.

Tumharo mantra vibheeshan maana |
Lankeshvar bhaye sab jag jaana ||

The sun is situated at a distance of yuga multiplied by a thousand
yojanas, You (Hanuman) swallowed it, thinking it to be a sweet fruit.

Jug sahastr yojan par bhaanoo |
Leelyo taahi madhur phal jaanoo ||

Placing the Lord’s ring in your mouth,
You leapt across the ocean—this was no wonder for you.

Prabhu mudrika meli mukh maaheen |
Jaladhi laanghi gaye acharaj naaheen ||

All the difficult tasks in the world
Become easy through your grace

Durgam kaaj jagat ke jete |
Sugam anugrah tumhare tete ||

You are the guardian at Lord Rama’s door,
No one can enter without your permission.

Raam duaare tum rakhavaare |
Hot na aagya binu paisaare ||

All happiness is found in your refuge,
With you as protector, there is nothing to fear from anyone.

Sab sukh lahai tumhaaree sarana |
Tum rakshak kaahoo ko darana ||

You alone can control your immense power,
At your mighty roar, all three worlds tremble.

Aapan tej samhaaro aapai,
Teenon lok haank ten kaampai ||

Evil spirits and ghosts cannot come near
When the name of the mighty Hanuman is spoken.

Bhoot pisaach nikat nahin aavai |
Mahaaveer jab naam sunaavai ||

All diseases are destroyed and all suffering is removed,
By constantly chanting the name of the mighty Hanuman.

Naasai rog harai sab peera |
Japat nirantar hanumat beera ||

Hanuman frees from all troubles,
Those who remember him with mind, actions, and words.

Sankat te hanumaan chhudaavai |
Man kram vachan dhyaan jo laave ||

Rama, the ascetic king, is supreme over all,
You are the one who accomplishes all his tasks.

Sab par raam tapasvee raaja |
Tinake kaaj sakal tum saaja ||

Whoever brings any wish before you,
That person obtains immeasurable rewards in life.

Aur manorath jo koee laavai |
Soee amit jeevan phal paavai ||

Your glory shines through all four ages (yugas),
Your fame is renowned and illuminates the whole world.

Chaaron yug prataap tumhaara |
Hai parasiddh jagat ujiyaara ||

You are the protector of saints and sages,
The destroyer of demons, and beloved of Lord Rama.

Saadhu sant ke tum rakhavaare |
Asur nikandan raam dulaare ||

You are the giver of the eight spiritual powers and the nine types of wealth,
Such a boon was granted to you by Mother Sita.

Asht siddhi nau nidhi ke daata |
As var deen jaanakee maata ||

The divine essence of Rama is with you,
May you always remain the devoted servant of Lord Rama.

Raam rasaayan tumhare paasa |
Sada raho raghupati ke daasa ||

Your devotional songs are pleasing to Lord Rama,
They remove the sorrows of many lifetimes.

Tumhare bhajan raam ko bhaavai |
Janam janam ke dukh bisaraavai ||

At the end of life, one who goes to the abode of Lord Rama,
Is reborn as a devotee of Hari (God).

Ant kaal raghuvar pur jaee |
Jahaan janm hari – bhakt kahaee ||

One need not keep any other deity in mind,
Hanuman alone bestows all happiness.

Aur devata chitt na dharee |
Hanumat seee sarv sukh karee ||

All troubles end and all pain is removed,
For those who remember the mighty Hanuman.

Sankat katai mitai sab peera |
Jo sumirai hanumat balabeera ||

Victory, victory, victory to you, Lord Hanuman,
Bestow your grace upon me, as a true Guru does upon a disciple.

Jay jay jay hanumaan gosaanee |
Krpa karahu gurudev kee naee ||

Whoever recites this one hundred times,
All their bondages are removed and great happiness is attained.

Jo shat baar paath kar koee |
Chhootahin bandi maha sukh hoee ||

Whoever recites this Hanuman Chalisa,
Will attain success—this is witnessed by Lord Shiva himself.

Jo yah padhai hanumaan chaaleesa |
Hoy siddhi saakhee gaureesa ||

Tulsidas is forever a servant of Lord Hari,
O Lord, please make your dwelling in my heart.

Along with Rama, Lakshman, and Sita, reside in my heart, O King of the gods.
